Convolution: The Next Step: Write on?
A couple of our staffers heard today about a fanfic writer who is more than 100 stories into a commitment to write a separate minific for EVERY ONE of the approximately 650 official Pokémon species.
That right there is the perfect example of nearly universal advice from professional authors: If you want to be a capital-w “Writer”, the first step is — WRITE.
Easier said than done for some, of course. So if you’re a dedicated writer — fiction or non-fiction, professional or hobbyist — what’s YOUR motivation? What do YOU do to ensure you hit that goal of X number of words per day? And what is it that you write about?—-
I’ve never been able to find that things that allows me to say to myself, “Stop worrying about all that other stuff you need to do. Take an hour and get some words down.”
Because my story idea is brilliant! To me, anyway.
