MEET A CONVOLUTION 2012 GUEST: Christopher Erickson
CHRISTOPHER ERICKSON! Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota (The Frozen Tundra) and raised on Star Trek reruns, Doctor Who Saturday nights on KTCA (with black and white and color) and Battlestar Galactica reruns, this young boy would go on to read H.G. Wells and read comics and attend a Star Trek convention (in costume even!). After graduating the University of Minnesota with a degree in chemistry, he moved to the Bay Area in 2000.
Christopher eventually discovered fandom in 2007 and was mistaken for an empty child when everyone asked “Are you my mummy?”. After correcting people that he was DC Comics’ Golden Age Sandman, and figuring out that Doctor Who was back, he started building his stable of costumes until it actually outnumbered his regular attire. He also continues to work as an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist in between conventions and faires.
I’ve met Chris a few times at both the Great Dickens Christmas Fair and BayCon, and look forward to talking more with him about … well, everything.
(And for some reason, I imagined this bio being read to me in Ted Knight’s narrator voice from the old “Superfriends” cartoon show.)
