I tried for an hour last night to figure out a short way of saying Mormons’ secretiveness makes Christians’ doubts about the LDS belonging within their circle of denominations understandable.

Because if people model their image of the faith’s adherents after Mitt Romney, who is the only example of any public prominence, they’re going to think Mormons are all a bunch of narcissistic, obfuscatory carpetbaggers with a near-total lack of empathy, responsibility and self-evaluation.

And in all seriousness, I don’t think that’s a fair measure.
