When the Moon Calls
I have a particular affinity for wolves. Not because I identify with them or collect their iconography. I like the way their behaviors and mannerisms are exaggerated or misinterpreted when ascribing them to people — the wolfish grin, the pack leader, etc.

As most of my friends know, I am a serious overconsumer of “clever” t-shirts. Having recently culled most of my collection because of my weight loss, the fact that I would be working in the same dealers room at KublaCon as *two* shirt vendors put me in serious danger of coming home with a week or more of new upper body wardrobe.
As it happens, pretty much all of the t-shirts this year were crap, or were long sayings or genre-specific in-jokes that are no longer part of my narcissistic desire to be looked at.
This one, though, was nowhere near any dealers room, nor does it have anything to do with sci-fi, fantasy, gaming or even hard science. My friend put her simple line art of an arm with crossed fingers on the *back* of a shirt. I just bought one, and I think it’ll say more about me (or at least people will think it does) than any catchphrase or chemical formula ever could.
(Also, use coupon code TEEMAY at checkout through tomorrow, and you get 10% any t-shirt whether it’s this one or not.)
Tomorrow I will be attending a foreclosure auction for the first time, setting aside the mixed feelings I have about profiting from the [insert this post’s title here] of others. Realistically, I am almost 100% certain not to have the winning bid, so my primary goal is for this trip to be a learning experience.
{sigh}
Never mind. It was pushed back a month.
I’ve only ever heard one of Unwoman’s songs. That was late yesterday afternoon, in person, straight from her mouth and hands, in BayCon’s fanzine lounge, with only 8 other people.
*One* song. Then I bought her entire 15-hour catalog.
Yeah.
Thanks very much, Ms. Mulkey, for accepting Chris Garcia’s invitation to stop by after Clockwork Alchemy! (And thanks, Chris, for that one song not being your attempted accompaniment with her before I’d come into the room).

And a noogie for each minibus.

![Chris Rock and Dreamworks have my heartfelt thanks. Of the things Hammy does over and over again, hopping around singing “circus afro, circus afro” is so far the funniest (and least annoying).
